1966 Chevrolet Impala
Undoubtedly, Chevy Impala has reigned for a long term in the automobile industry.
It has reached the peak of success till the early 1960s. However, these unforgettable
years of success gradually has faded. The cycle of its production brought changes
to the once luxurious image of the Impala. One of its popular trims, the Impala
SS, began losing its luster. The traditional trademark of six round taillights
since 1958 has disappeared in the course of its new production of model year vehicles.
They were replaced with large rectangular ones with massively styled front ends.

With these new features embodied, 1966 Chevrolet Impala came rather as an appearance
package than that of a performance one. Unfortunately, this mistake of overhauling
Impala's looks and image made it lose the popularity it once enjoyed. Another
vehicle in Chevrolet's fleet, the Caprice, stole Impala's luxury image, thus became
the new top-of-the-line Chevy vehicle. Worst is that, Impala decreased its sales
up to 50 percent to the Caprice and other smaller mid-size performance muscle
cars. Well, everything has an end. This year proved to be not so blessed for Chevrolet
Impala.
